In 2020, Dan Hund, an avid sneaker head, passed away from adrenal cancer. He was only 35 years old. In 2021, the Dan Hund Memorial to Stomp Out Cancer began. Dan always believed a cure would be found, if not in time for him, then for others. This year marks the 5th year of Stomp Out Cancer, an NCAA tournament challenge where the winner and runner up receive a pair of Dan’s shoe collection. Over the first four years, about 1500 brackets have been submitted and over $710,000 raised and donated for research at MD Anderson. Our goal this year is to increase both the number of participants and raise at least $290,000 making our 5-year total $1 million. The winner will get a pair of Air Jordan 4 Retro Black/Metallic and second will receive a pair of purple Adidas PW Tennis shoes. Donations in the past have been wide ranging, from small dollars to thousands of dollars. While there is no standard minimum donation, the most common donations are $50-100 per bracket. But if your current situation doesn’t allow a donation, play anyway. Your participation is what Dan would have wanted. If you can dig a little deeper, that would be great too. All donations go 100% to MDA and all donations are 100% matched. The tournament selection will be announced on Sunday, March 16, 2025. Once the tournament field is available, the Dan Hund Memorial 2025 group will be available to join through the ESPN Tournament Challenge. New participants, visit the "Get Involved" page to join the group. Returning bracket participants from 2024 will need to dust off their ESPN username and password but will receive an automatic email from the ESPN Tournament Challenge site to join the Dan Hund Memorial 2025.
